Institute for Piano
The requirements that professional pianists encounter in the professional world have changed and expanded significantly in the past 20 years. There is a wide range of possibilities available to define and practice this profession in a highly individual way. To address this, the Institute for Piano has diversified considerably. Professorships have been advertised with various specializations and filled by artists who excel not only in traditional solo literature but also in their respective fields of expertise. This ensures that the next generation of artists receive optimal support, both in terms of basic piano training and in potential specialization according to their talents and inclinations. With a total of 20 lecturers (professors, lecturers, instructors), the Institute for Piano covers essential study programmes: Bachelor and Master degrees as well as the concert examination in solo piano as the main subject, music education with piano as a major or minor instrument, compulsory piano studies in church music, instrumental programmes, and elective modules. In order to promote musical talent, the HMDK Stuttgart collaborates closely with the High School of Music Stuttgart.
