Barrier-free Arrival by Public Transportation
The nearest barrier-free stop is the Charlottenplatz subway station (U1, 2, 4, 9, 11, 14). The distance to the HMDK Stuttgart is 500 m and the route is entirely paved with asphalt. Some parts are in a traffic-calmed zone. Lowered curbs are available on Ulrichstraße.
Barrier-free Access by Car
Adjacent to the main entrance at Urbanstraße 25, there are two disabled parking spaces 10 m away. The parking garage of the Württemberg State Library (Konrad-Adenauer-Straße 10) is located 200 m away. The parking garage has disabled parking spaces and a passenger elevator. A step-free access is possible via the ascending Ulrichstraße. Lowered curbs are available on both sides of Ulrichstraße.
Barrier-free Entrances
The concert hall lobbies and the box office can be reached via step-free access. All concert halls are accessible via passenger elevators. The "Wandelhalle" and the orchestra rehearsal room on the 8th floor are also accessible via passenger elevators.
Wheelchair spaces are available in all concert halls. We strive to provide the most barrier-free access possible. The wheelchair spaces in the concert hall are located in the front row. The wheelchair space in the chamber music hall can be accessed through the right entrance; the wheelchair space is located in the back row. The chamber music hall is sloped, ensuring an unobstructed view at all times. In the orchestra rehearsal room, wheelchair spaces can be set up in each row due to the variable seating arrangement.
The step-free access to the chamber music hall on the 3rd floor is via a passenger elevator on the 4th floor. The door width is 90 cm and the interior measures 90 cm by 120 cm. The passenger elevator is located 4 m from the foyer staircase. You can reach the working platform of the Schauspielschule Stuttgart on the 1st floor via the two foyers, then follow a step-free path to the right of the chamber music hall, where another elevator is available, which ends directly at the working platform. Unfortunately, barrier-free toilets are not available on the 1st floor. For the nearest barrier-free toilet, take the elevator to the 6th floor, turn right twice, and you will find the toilet entrance.
Barrier-free Toilets
The step-free entrance area via Urbanstraße 25 is on the 5th floor. Right next to the passenger elevators on the 4th floor, there is a barrier-free toilet that can be reached using the adjacent elevators and has a door width of 100 cm. On the 3rd floor next to the chamber music hall, there is another barrier-free toilet (door width 98 cm) accessible via two passenger elevators. There is no barrier-free toilet on the 8th floor. Restrooms on the 8th floor can only be reached by stairs.
