Workshop in May: Cycle-oriented practice
May 18, 2026 · 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Orchestra rehearsal room Cycle-oriented practice and music-making How does the menstrual cycle affect posture, movement and resilience in everyday musical life? And what does this mean in concrete terms for practicing and making music? In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to better understand relationships, reflect on your own experiences and develop individual strategies for dealing with cycle-related changes. The focus is on physical aspects of practicing, making music and concerting, conveyed by methods of applied music physiology.
The workshop will be led by Sophie Engel-Bansac, violinist and violist, Feldenkrais teacher and lecturer in music physiology at the Berlin University of the Arts, and Verena Richter, dance and movement teacher, physiotherapist for musicians and lecturer in the field of music physiology. Both bring many years of experience from teaching and international workshop activities. The offer is aimed at menstruating people, especially music students (instrumentalists).
Speakers and singers are welcome, even if the topic of voice is not the focus. Please bring a yoga mat, comfortable clothing, non-slip socks, a large towel, writing utensils and something to drink. The number of participants is limited. We ask for binding registration by May 12 by e-mail to Hannah Clauß (subject: "Workshop Cycle-Oriented Practice and Making Music") We look forward to seeing you.
