The Master New Music positions itself in the field of contemporary art – with roots in traditions. Focus on high artistic level in the main subject and openness to the entire spectrum of music practice as contemporary art go hand in hand.
Goals & Competencies:
- Ability for professional performance in ensembles, chamber music, and as a soloist.
- Development of the artistic personality as well as musical and reflective competencies.
- A high artistic level in all areas of performance and interpretive engagement with contemporary New Music involving interdisciplinary, performative, and medial practices.
- A diverse repertoire of practicing and rehearsal techniques related to various forms of New Music.
- Specific professional competencies in written reflection through work in music theory, musicology, and aesthetics.
- Ability in self and ensemble organization, project development, research, and collective working methods, especially in the independent scene.
Main subjects & individual focuses

Note on the main subject Ensemble Conducting: An entrance examination takes place only in the winter semester, usually every 2 years – currently the next one in the summer semester 2025 for the winter semester 2025/26!
