Faculty I combines the subjects that are primarily scientifically and analytically oriented. This includes the Institute for Composition, Music Theory & Aural Training and the Institute for Musicology, Music Pedagogy & Aesthetics.

Study Commission
The Deans of Studies lead the Study Commission in their respective faculties. The Study Commission develops the study and examination regulations of the courses of study assigned to the faculty in a cross-faculty manner. These regulations are approved by the Senate after consultation in the Faculty Council. The Study Commission also deals with practical issues related to study and examinations. It consists of representatives of the teaching staff and the students of the respective courses of study.
