The composer, music theorist and music educator (focus on digital media didactics) Nikodemus Gollnau (*1985) studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart Schulmusik (music education) (Staatsexamen 2010), Musiktheorie und Neue Medien (music theory and new media) (Komposition im Nebenfach) (Diplom 2011), Musikwissenschaft (musicaology) (Master of Arts 2012, master thesis: "On the Historical Performance Practice of Electronic Music - The Pioneer as Prophet or Entry of Prophecy as Liquidation of Aesthetics - Realization Possibilities to Stockhausen's Study II")school music (state examination 2010), music theory and new media (composition minor) (diploma 2011), musicology (Master of Arts 2012, as well as Germanistik (German Philology) an der Universität Stuttgart (Staatsexamen 2012).
His main compositional interest lies in the (partially theatrical) interaction of soloists or small ensembles with non-biological, electronic instances ("new media"?) (analog and digital live electronics (Max-MSP), electronic multi-channel playbacks, sensor-controlled sound transformation, sound transcendence and spatialization).
Besides this enthusiasm for artistic creation and (re)construction, his heart burns just as passionately for artistic teaching and its design. This fascination led him via various teaching assignments for music theory at German conservatories (including HfMDK Frankfurt (2011-2018), MH Trossingen (2012-2020)), back to the place of his studies: since 2015 he is a Dozent at HMDK Stuttgart, responsible for teaching music theory and ear training to the Hochbegabten-Zug des Landesmusikgymnasiums Stuttgart and since 2020 he has additionally been teaching, researching and publishing in the field of media didactics with a focus on "making" theory and practice.
