Master of Education - Teaching Degree Program

The Master of Education - Teaching Degree Program with a focus on music has a standard period of study of 4 semesters and includes study components at the University of Music and the Performing Arts in Stuttgart (HMDK Stuttgart) and at another university (usually in Stuttgart, Hohenheim, or Tübingen). In addition to the music subject at the HMDK Stuttgart, you will also study a scientific subject at one of the universities, as well as attend courses in educational sciences and the school internship semester, which is usually completed in the 1st semester of the Master's program. Instead of the scientific subject, you can also choose to take the Jazz/Pop elective subject at the HMDK (if you have already completed this in your Bachelor's degree in teaching). The elective subject can also be studied as an extension Master's program, but only in combination with the music subject. The music subject cannot be studied as an extension Master's program. Successful completion of the Master's program (Master of Education) is a prerequisite for the teaching internship (Referendariat).
