At HMDK Stuttgart, the recognition of academic achievements is overseen by the Vice-Rector for Studies and Student Administration.

Students returning from abroad must present their documents to the responsible Vice-Rector during the designated consultation hours, which are typically held on Tuesdays.

The recognition process is carried out in accordance with the Lisbon Recognition Convention and is embedded in all study and examination regulations:

Academic achievements and degrees obtained in recognized study programs at state or state-accredited universities within the European Union are recognized, provided that there are no significant differences in the acquired competencies compared to the corresponding achievements or degrees at HMDK Stuttgart. Recognition facilitates the continuation of studies, the completion of examinations, the commencement of further studies, or admission to a doctoral program.

Students are responsible for providing sufficient information regarding the academic achievements to be recognized. The burden of proof that an application does not meet the recognition criteria lies with the responsible Vice-Rector, who conducts the recognition process.

The credit points assigned to courses in the study plans of HMDK Stuttgart are determined based on workload and are detailed in the module descriptions, which outline contact hours and self-study requirements.

Upon returning from abroad, students can have their completed coursework recognized. The conversion into ECTS credits is based on the study plans of HMDK Stuttgart, ensuring that students demonstrate content equivalence and receive appropriate credit to support their academic progress in Stuttgart.

Differences in grading systems between institutions will not result in disadvantages regarding the degree awarded by HMDK Stuttgart.

Interrail Pass for Erasmus+ students

The Interrail Pass for Erasmus+ is a six-month pass for European trains, developed in cooperation between Eurail and the European Student Network (ESN) specifically for participants in the Erasmus+ programme. Thanks to its six-month validity, most Erasmus students can use the pass for both their outward and return journeys. There are two types of passes available:

    Four travel days within six months of the start date
    Six travel days within six months of the start date
