Health/Prevention

The Health/Prevention department is dedicated to the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of our students. We offer regular seminars and individual counseling for all students.

Additionally, in the project Healthy Playing, we address the specific needs of individual professional groups or instrumental groups through individual events with us and courses at Schloss Kapfenburg. All these offerings are also the result of our extensive student survey, the World Café.

Our network of external therapists and coaches is diverse.

The basis for every artistic and/or educational activity is a good relationship with oneself. Therefore, our goal is to create conditions for a more conscious and sustainable use of one's own physical, mental, and emotional resources, which will remain viable throughout a professional career and ideally can also be passed on to students or colleagues.

The health competencies and resilience of the students are strengthened, providing opportunities to learn how to deal constructively with stress, performance pressure, and burdensome thoughts and feelings. This is to maintain and increase health, energy, and joy for artistic/educational activities.

We aim to work preventively on both individual behavior and the surroundings to support each individual and make the conditions at the university even more health-friendly.

Currently, we are generously supported in this endeavor by the Techniker Krankenkasse in the three-year project "Healthy Playing" as an important part of the overall health/prevention program.

Healthy Playing

Student Health Management in cooperation with the TK - Techniker Krankenkasse and Schloß Kapfenburg

The overall three-year project "Healthy Playing" is dedicated to sustainably strengthening the health competencies and resilience of the students at the HMDK, in order to enable a more conscious and sustainable handling of their own physical, mental, and emotional resources that will remain viable throughout their professional lives and ideally be passed on to students, colleagues, etc. The aim of the project is also to question and, where appropriate, adapt study structures at the HMDK Stuttgart in the sense of structural prevention.
