Studio Chamber Music
In a chamber music ensemble, musicians from various backgrounds, with different working methods and experiences, come together in intense rehearsals. They practice respectful interaction with each other and learn to make musical compromises, as well as to give and accept constructive criticism of each other's playing. In the end, the focus is on working together for the greater good, taking responsibility for each other, and putting the musical work at the center of attention.
Chamber Music is an essential and important part of music studies at the HMDK Stuttgart. It challenges and supports each musician on their path towards a professional career, whether that leads to an orchestra, music pedagogy, freelance work, or a combination of everything: chamber music is valuable for everyone.
The inexhaustible repertoire is acquired and studied, from Baroque to contemporary music. Chamber music is no longer limited to the "chamber", nor is it exclusively for the sophisticated elite or a small circle of intellectuals. It reflects the spirit of the times, the actions, and thoughts of the respective eras, often breaking with traditions throughout music history and exploring new ways of composing and experiencing concerts.
