Bachelor of Music - Music Theory
The course of study Bachelor of Music - Music Theory involves the intellectual examination of musical compositions with a focus on the practice of making music (interpretation resulting from the analysis of musical structure and historical sources), understanding through recomposition (stylistic copies), in-depth listening (using the score), and ultimately teaching. The course of study Bachelor of Music - Music Theory typically spans eight semesters and consists of individual lessons in the main subject (analyses and stylistic copies of compositions from various eras ranging from ancient to contemporary music), complemented by mandatory courses in “History of Music Theory” (a four-semester seminar covering music theory from antiquity to the 20th century) and “Methodology of Music Theory” (three semesters of group exercises focusing on developing didactic concepts, teaching curricula, and teaching samples in preparation for practical teaching). Additionally, the program offers opportunities for specialization (see below!), with designated experts available for guidance. The culmination of the program is the Bachelor's thesis.
