Goals and content of the study
The objective of the course of study is to train innovative and competitive music educators who can succeed in educational institutions as well as in the open market. They have the ability to work interdisciplinary, fundamentally, and process-oriented in artistic and pedagogical contexts. Special emphasis is placed at the University of Music and the Performing Arts Stuttgart (HMDK Stuttgart) on the training of artistic and pedagogical skills and, above all, their intertwining. The range of opportunities for observing group lessons with different target groups is wide, and the individual practical supervision is intensive. There are practice groups of different age groups at the university as well as at music and primary schools, a daycare center, and a senior community center. In parallel, the rhythmical-musical approach places artistic emphasis, such as developing designs in music, language, and movement to interdisciplinary projects. Special features of Stuttgart:
"Singen – Bewegen – Sprechen (SBS)" – an additional teaching offer in the area of language promotion, with modules that are creditable for later certification.
