Stuttgart Recorder Orchestra
The recorder students have the unique opportunity to test themselves and play all recorders from piccolo recorder to sub-bass recorders in the large ensemble. The Stuttgart Recorder Orchestra is a non-profit organization and is independently connected in cooperation with the HMDK.
The ensemble was founded in 2018 by Hans-Joachim Fuss and Cassio Caponi (an alumnus of the HMDK). It is the only professional recorder orchestra in Germany. The musicians come from different federal states and belong to several nations. The repertoire consists exclusively of compositions under the category "Music of our Time". Hans-Joachim Fuss considers collaboration with established as well as young composers very important, as a large recorder ensemble has potential and can offer exciting perspectives. In addition, a repertoire is encouraged and created that simply did not exist for a large recorder ensemble before. The ensemble has performed not only in Germany but also in Switzerland and France.
