Prof. Britta Wirthmüller

Britta Wirthmüller studied ballet and contemporary dance at the Palucca Schule Dresden and holds an MA in “Performance Studies“ from the University of Hamburg. In her work she attends to that which usually remains invisible, like forgotten dances, personal archives or the hidden layers of a city’s history. From 2011 to 2022, she was an artistic associate at the Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin (HZT Berlin).
2018/19, she received a DAAD scholarship for her research project “Tracing Ruth Sorel,” which examines the life of the German-Jewish choreographer, dancer, and teacher Ruth Abramowitsch Sorel in Canada and Brazil. Since 2023 she is a professor for performance at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.
