
David Müller, M.A., M.Ed., M.Mus.

David Müller (*1999) studied Music Education and Mathematics for secondary school teaching (B.A. and M.Ed.) at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts and the University of Stuttgart. He subsequently completed degrees in Music Theory (B.Mus. and M.Mus.) and Musicology (M.A.) at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. He also studied abroad at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
His research focuses on twentieth-century music, particularly the music of the 1950s and 1960s, as well as on questions of music theory. His scholarly work is reflected in several publications (including studies on Georg Friedrich Haas, Bill Hopkins, and Alberto Ginastera) and presentations at international conferences. In 2025, he was awarded first prize in the essay competition of the German Society for Music Theory for his article on Georg Friedrich Haas's *String Quartet No. 8*. In 2026, he received a prize at the Richard Strauss Competition.
Since April 2025, David Florian Müller has been a Research Associate in Musicology at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts, where he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. on *In nomine* compositions and strategies of historical reference in chamber music composition around the turn of the millennium.
