Eckhard Stromer (born 1972 in Chicago/Ill, USA) is considered one of the most versatile drummers and percussionists living in Germany and works crossing borders and genres with a wide range of international artists from jazz, pop and classical music.
He studied classical orchestral percussion, jazz drums and instrumental pedagogy in Würzburg and continued his studies with postgraduate artistic studies in Stuttgart.
Eckhard Stromer has been teaching jazz & pop drums, ensemble and jazz rhythmic training at the HMDK Stuttgart since 2000 and is a sought-after workshop teacher and popular competition judge in Germany and abroad.
He has received prizes and awards at "Jugend Jazzt", "Deutscher Konservatoriumswettbewerb", "International European Jazz Competition", "International Drummers Meeting" as well as the "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik" and a Grammy nomination.
On over 70 CD productions and countless concerts in Germany and abroad Stromer has worked with Ack van Rooyen, Alex Sipiagin, Bobby Shew, Bobby Kimball, BuJazzO, Cécile Verny, Charlie Mariano, Cornell Dupree, Daniel Schnyder, Eric Bazilian, Eric Séva, Fish, Gary Brooker, Helen Schneider, Jon Lord, Jimi Jamison, Martin Schrack, Mnozil Brass, Nils Gessinger, Paquito d`Rivera, Peter Weniger, Pur, Paul Carrack, Rainer Tempel, Randy Brecker, Roger Cicero, Sebastian Studnitzky, Steve Hackett, Terell Stafford... as well as with various renowned symphony and theatre orchestras and broadcast stations.
