Orchestra Rehearsal Room
About the orchestra rehearsal room
The orchestra rehearsal room is located on the 8th level and serves as a teaching space for medium and larger instrumental and vocal ensembles, in addition to being a venue for various event formats. With a capacity of 99 seats, the movable seating allows for various configurations for different types of presentations, conferences, and workshops. Sir James Frazer Stirling designed it as an open, unfinished workspace and workshop area. The dome-like vaulted ceiling with an intermediate ceiling ensures the highest possible sound development. Despite its architecturally clear language, the room has a variety of structural elements (surrounding frieze, window reveals, projections) that lead to favorable acoustics. The orchestra rehearsal room hosts an average of over 200 public events each year, representing a wide spectrum of teaching activities.
