Attorney-of-trust / Lawyer
As of November 15, 2020, the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts has appointed lawyer Michaela Spandau from Stuttgart as attorney-of-trust for sexualized discrimination, sexual harassment, and violence.
By appointing a trust attorney, the ministry is addressing the existing need for advice in the institutions within its sphere of activity and for the contact persons there regarding sexualized discrimination, sexual harassment, and violence. Furthermore, it now offers victims the opportunity to directly turn to an external trusted person. The main focus of the work lies in providing initial legal advice on a specific situation. The trust attorney can be contacted anonymously and guarantees legal confidentiality upon request, particularly crucial due to existing dependency relationships. The measure is also intended to help quantify the dark figure in the area of sexual harassment more effectively.
By signing a joint resolution, the ministry and the universities have sent a clear signal against sexualized discrimination, sexual harassment, and violence. The establishment of a trust attorney is another component of the ministry's efforts to combat sexualized discrimination, sexual harassment, and violence.
