Chamber Music Hall
About the chamber music hall
The chamber music hall of the HMDK, located in the second construction phase underneath the House of History and offering seating for 180 visitors, impresses with its intimate, trapezoidal shape. Featuring heavily folded and articulated wall, floor, and ceiling elements reminiscent of a string instrument, it offers an architectural counterpoint to the festive concert hall. The paneling of the walls with Jatoba, a reddish tropical wood from plantations, gives the room a warmth that is ideal for chamber music formats, performances of the performing arts, drama school, and lectures. The seating extends over ten rows in ascending form. The chamber music hall hosts over 200 events per year that are open to the interested public. The centerpiece of the instrument equipment, as in the concert hall and orchestra rehearsal room, are two D concert grand pianos from Steinway & Sons.
