Soroptimist Scholarship
for female students of the HMDK Stuttgart
Soroptimist International has around 70,000 members in over 2,900 clubs in 118 countries and is the world's largest international organisation of professional women. Soroptimists deal with issues concerning the legal, social and professional status of women and represent the position of women in public debate. The Soroptimistische Hilfsverein e.V. announces an annual scholarship (at the beginning of a summer semester) for female students of the HDMK Stuttgart. The objective is to promote the education of women in courses of study in music and the performing arts and to facilitate their entry into freelance work, if applicable. The main subject for which the call for applications is made is determined each year.
The scholarship will be awarded in the subject Viola, violoncello or double bass for the period 01.03.2025 to 28.02.2026.
Applications are open to all female students of the respective subject (Bachelor's, Master's or concert examination) who are enrolled at the HMDK Stuttgart at the beginning of the award period, irrespective of age, nationality and number of semesters.
The following application documents must be submitted online in German by 10 December 2025 (deadline) at the latest:
- Informal application with letter of motivation (max. 1 DIN A4 page), including in particular a statement by the applicant on the aims and values of Soroptimist International and, if applicable, a presentation of previous involvement in this area
- a curriculum vitae in table form
- a letter of recommendation from the main subject teacher
- a personal statement as to whether and, if so, which scholarships are currently being received
- if applicable, proof of special qualifications, academic achievements to date, internship and work certificates, special awards and prizes, extracurricular and extracurricular involvement, etc. (see below).

Scholarships are generally awarded for one year (beginning of March until end of February). The scholarship supports students with 1500 euros and is awarded as a grant that does not have to be repaid. The scholarship is not dependent on income and can be combined with BAföG funding. There is no legal claim to the scholarship.The Soroptimistische Hilfsverein e.V. reserves the right to distribute the scholarship among several scholarship holders if necessary.The central criterion for awarding the scholarship is special achievement and talent. In addition to previous achievements, the following are also taken into account: special successes, awards and prizes, motivation for applying for the Soroptimist scholarship and, if applicable, presentation of previous commitment in this area, previous employment and internships, extracurricular and extracurricular commitment (voluntary, social, (university) political, involvement in associations or clubs, etc.) as well as special personal or family circumstances.
