Institute for Wind Instruments and Percussion
Faculty II
A top-flight teaching staff is essential for a university if they want to attract the best students whether nationally or internationally. We can say with confidence that we truly are one of the best. But as nice as it is to be able to keep experienced orchestra musicians and soloists at the university: the best proof of our success is the type of employment and the quality of appointments that our student’s have gained. Our work speaks for itself, because our students not only found employment across a range of city orchestras but they also occupy positions right at the top of great opera- and symphony orchestras. In addition, numerous prestigious awards from international competitions contribute to our ongoing success and outstanding reputation.
We combine the potential of our students with the adventure of new possibilities by providing students with a means to flourish and experience new activities. From the Stuttgarter Bläserakademie to City Brass Stuttgart, from the Night of Percussion to the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, from Ancient Music (“Alte Musik”) to the Congress of Microtonality, to name but a few: our students are a part of it and they thrive in these environments.
Our assistants provide us with essential support as they teach the additional instruments with expert knowledge; and our accompanists, whose indispensable presence is necessary for a holistic and successful instrumental education.
