Studio Orchestra

The Studio orchestra consists entirely of school-music students and functions as a tool for both the teaching of, and learning of orchestra within the framework of orchestral management as an integral part of school-music studies.

Students use weekly rehearsals to create programs, which are presented later in concert.

This process covers the whole spectrum of repertoire.

It is extremely important that students of conducting are given the opportunity to develop their “beat-time” and rehearsal techniques, rehearsal disposition, listening skills and communicative ability both actively and continually. The musicians on the other hand, in anticipation of their own conducting experience, have the opportunity to develop these same parameters through observation; this enables them to gain experience in conducting passively.
