Continuing Education Master's in Choral Conducting

The goal of the part-time Master’s program "Choral Conducting" is to equip graduates with technical and educational competencies for leading choirs. The training is based on the knowledge acquired during preliminary studies and professional practice according to the study profile.

If you have completed a Bachelor's degree at a music college or obtained a comparable academic degree at a college or university and also have several years of conducting experience, you meet the basic prerequisites for the advanced Master’s program in Choral Conducting at HMDK Stuttgart.

After passing the entrance examination, you will embark on the four-semester Master's program culminating in a final Master’s examination. The program concludes with the academic degree "Master of Music." The curriculum includes, besides the central artistic subject of choral conducting, subjects like singing and score playing as well as elective courses specific to the field (see study plan). What makes the part-time Master’s program in Choral Conducting in Stuttgart special is that half of the study achievements are completed in the existing professional environment through selected job-related projects. This allows for an optimal combination of study and work.

Choral conducting is also offered at HMDK Stuttgart as a major in the Bachelor of Music program as well as a full-time Master’s program.

The program is subject to fees, with a tuition fee of 500 € per semester.
