Ari Teperberg
maker, opera director and performer

Ari was born in Jerusalem, Israel. He graduated from the School of Visual Theatre in Jerusalem (2013) and is the recipient of the Jerusalem Foundation Prize, 2011.
In 2022 he won the Rosenblum Prize from the Tel Aviv municipality.

As a maker, Ari created the pieces Untitled Document, The Soft Hum of the Dial Tone,  And my Heart Almost Stood Still, I Want to Dance, Kate! and more.
In 2019 Ari created the leading video work for the acclaimed ethnography exhibition “Veiled Woman of the Holy Land” at the Israel Museum.

Together with Inbal Yomtovian, he founded the “Golden Delicious” ensemble, creating and touring with Object-Theatre shows in numerous festivals around the world. The duo’s best know work is Jonathan and the Blue Table.

In Opera and music, Ari directed the project Shalem at the Jerusalem Mekudeshet Festival - a concert for an orchestra of 110 musicians playing broken instruments (2019). He directed the pieces Peter and the Wolf,  Cosi Fan Tutte, Hänsel und Gretel, Giulio Cesare and Dan the Guard – the first Hebrew opera, written in 1943.
In 2019 Ari won the Audience Prize at the 'Nano Opera' competition for young opera directors at the Helikon Opera, Moscow.
Ari Worked at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, as well as at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, directing and teaching movement for opera singers.

As a performer Ari worked with Yonatan Levy, Sharon Zuckerman-Weiser, Ana Wild and since 2015 has been dancing at the Yasmeen Godder Dance Company.

As a teacher he led a multidisciplinary course in Art-Team - a national arts program for teenagers in Israel.
In addition, Ari gave workshops of his special working method at numerous institutions and festivals in Israel and around the world, for a variety of audiences - dancers, actors, puppeteers, instrumentalists, singers and non-professionals.

In 2023 Ari will be artistic director for the opening event of the new building of Israel’s National Library, commissioning a number of new site-specific works.
